Re: First Seed Catalog 2014
I got a catalog yesterday called 'Totally Tomatoes'. I almost tossed it for I have plenty of tomato seeds in packets from last yr.
Well, I finally opened it and ye, there are some tomatoes in it, but, it has lots of other veggies in it. At least this will hold me til Johhny's and Baker Creek get here!

Re: First Seed Catalog 2014
I got one! Baker Creek came today, along with my TomatoFest order.
GG
Update - In the TomatoFest order I got, not one, but TWO free packs of seeds to try. Early Annie and Italian Heirloom. The extra was one of 2 packs sent in place of a variety I ordered which has been discontinued. I CAN'T WAIT FOR SPRING!!!!!

I received one, also! I picked up a 2013 at the Exposition this September but didn't sign up to receive a new one for 2014. they must be sending out catalogs to everyone who attended.

I can't believe how neat some of the fruits look. The 18" red noodle pole beans and Rattlesnake pole beans will be facing the street, growing up past the fence. I hope they are show stoppers. I have a 1 x 3' box near the gate that doesn't seem to be good for peas or cucumbers. So I'm planting Kiss-Me-Over-the -Garden-Gate flowers. I also bought borage and cat mint (for you know who).
Need. More. Boxes.

Re: First Seed Catalog 2014
I'm really looking forward to seeing how borage does too. If it's as useful and all-around great (and edible) as I read, it sounds like a real keeper.
Also really keen on the malabar and New Zealand spinach I bought. Sure is fun to try new things! Wish I had so much more space to do it in, though.

Re: First Seed Catalog 2014
Thanks, Floyd. You could actually see what I ordered?? Good eyes. Some are small/dwarf versions for my teeny garden (59 SF). Plus 4-8 planned new ones for vertical growers.

Re: First Seed Catalog 2014
I got my Burpee and notice the prices are so much higher than everyone else yet the seeds aren't any better than anyone else's from what I've bought in the past. Though they have some new varieties that may be worth trying. I sure do love the colors in that catalog.
I'm still waiting for Johnny's.

I buy most of my seeds from them, and it's always the last to arrive. No TSC catalog yet.

Re: First Seed Catalog 2014
I printed out the template of my boxes before bedtime so I could start planning my spring garden and calculating how many seedlings I need to start. As I lay there in bed, cat and DH sound asleep, I realized I am now a real gardener. Successive and companion planting are really coming into play this spring. Just thinking of all the lessons I learned these last 10 months!
