Oh haven't you heard? It's not called "Global Warming" anymore, it's called "Climate Change".

I wish everyone warm and happy homes during this winter season. So very thankful for shelter from the elements and all the many comforts a home provides.

Yes, I know the terminology changed several years ago, although it still seems to me that the inherent meaning is global warming, from the way the data and "threat" are presented.

"Climate change" covers anything: warming OR cooling, even erratic weather, which occurs in either case.

One website to which I subscribe has been posting old newspaper articles from different times that have headlines that seem like current news stories. Shrinking glaciers, cooling temperatures, hot temperatures, etc. Some of the publication dates were in the 1880s, one from 1906, several from the 1920s, etc. These make interesting reading, to say the least.

It's cold here at my place tonight, heading towards 0F/-18C.
A friend of mine is actually a research scientist from the University of Michigan, in the field of geology and climate. She has some very interesting things to say about climate change, ancient warming and cooling cycles and our currently warming planet. She is now in residence at McMurdo Station on the Antarctica continent collecting ancient ice core samples.

Keep in mind it is high summer where they are. Shocked

Interesting read ..good adventure training indeed .

I wonder how the interpretation of the Antarctic the ice cores will relate to what is said to be massive unusual ice shelf depletion in the Arctic .

I hope she does the follow up blog with the results.

Camp, thanks for sharing that very interesting blog. I had my lap heating pad on, thank goodness. I would love to read about the findings.

I'm up early this morning and the first news I read is "Ice Storm leaves thousands in the cold." For all of you in its path, I hope you have a safe and warm Christmas Eve.

DH and I making a day trip to Sacramento to have lunch with my 3 kids and families, and their Dad (my ex) and his wife. (Yep, my kids are lucky)
