You can grow fruit like the tomato ..
Use fertilized buds which still have the brown petals to indicate the flower has been fertilized and slip about seven inches of stem wood inside an up turned bottle suspended in the tree . Keep an eye on the bottle and snip off any adjacent leaves or buds that might also try and grow into the bottle
When big enough to harvest just before normal harvest time use secateurs to take the thing off the tree , leave a generous stem for later in the day when you wash and prepare the fruit in the bottle .
Get crafty and develop a scalpel blade on a long bent stem so you can cut right next to the fruit. Gently pull on the long stem and slip the long scalpel in the bottle neck , carefully work the blade into the twig as close to the fruit as you dare without cutting the fruit.

Now rinse out the bottle with a drop of Campden tablet water to kill any bacterial and fill the bottle with fill with 13 % ABV plus wine, vodka & brandy etc etc. & cork it up with a sterilized cork .
Apples & Pear are the usual fruits used , they make a novel & an amusing gift when presented in this manner.

This morning I was shopping at a small store that is always busy.

Above the counter was a very simple sign that said:

"Unattended children will be given espresso and a free puppy."  Razz

My friend the coffee roaster/cafe owner has the same sign. It's a good one. :-)

That's perfect for your friend's store!

The store I was in was an old-school butcher shop that's been run by the same family for 60 years in the same building.

A better sign for the butcher shop would be:

"Unattended children will be given a fresh soup bone and a free puppy to share it with!"

The upper picture is simple enough.

However, I confess that it took me a little while to figure out the lower one.

Once you get over 30 it's all down hill from there so it's not surprising that some of you didn't fathom the signage .

 PS.
I got all the signs in a flash ...I'm only 27 in my head affraid  it's just that my body feel and acts much older.  Wink

The only day it snowed in south Florida:

That was on Jan. 19, 1977

And here's what Wikipedia has to say about snow in South Florida:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snow_in_Florida

I *must* be getting old because I remember it as happening when I was in 2-3rd grade but clearly I must have been in the 6th grade.

So...just how many forum members were living in Florida at the time?  It seems we have at least 3 in the New England section: me, Cape Coddess and New Hampshire Gardener.

Anyone else remember this historic event?

I was attending Florida State University between 1968 and 1972.  In approximately 1970 we had snow.  It was melted by the time it got down to the ground.  So we all ran up to the roof of the dorms and caught the flakes before they hit the roof.  My roommates (Miami, Ft Lauderdale, and St. Pete) had never seen snow so they were going crazy with just a few flakes of snow.  I am a Navy brat and had lived all over so I stood around and laughed myself silly at their antics.

I just ordered a Nexus 7 on this recommendation. It seemed to beat out the competition in the ways I need, and a 'used - like new' one came onto Amazon, so I used my xmas gift card and will have it by the end of this month.

Anyone other owners out there with opinions on these tablets? I'm particularly interested in long term usage.
