Curled/deformed/puckered pepper leaves

Post  edwinlgk on Mon Jan 06, 2014 8:26 am

All was going well with my sweet peppers and out of the blue this happens... the newer leaves starts to curl downwards... anyone know why? I don't see any aphids under it... but the older leaves are infested with white flies... can Neem Oil get rid of those pesky lil buggers?

Or is it due to calcium?

Here is a photo of it...

My guess, and it's just a guess, perhaps too much water or possibly a virus.

Have you tried a simple insecticidal soap on the whiteflies?

I recommend soap and not a detergent when mixing this concoction.

Looks like some of the coffee plants here that are having white fly problems.. Neem can help until the infestation gets really bad, then sometime you have to break out more serious stuff. We did. Didn't think about the soap spray which is a good idea. Just be careful. I overdid on a 4 ft ficus tree one time. Got rid of the aphids and white flies - also all the leaves. It did grow back eventually.

Thank you for the helpful links! I have one more question can dish washing liquid be used? Or normal hand wash soap?

Hi Kay!

I did use this organic spray on it and like you I think I over did it with some plants and yea... the leaves just falls off... so now I have this fear of using it... but those whiteflies... oh are they annoying!
