Our Garden..A Work in Progress

Post  at2wooden on 1/11/2014, 10:58 pm

This is our first SFG, and my boys are getting a lot of "first hand" experience.
I'll add pics as it develops to harvest. We are in zone 10.
We planted our first seeds 11/24 and our second bunch 12/24 in the hotbox.
We also put in Bananas, Pineapples, Plantains, Muscadine Grapes, Dwarf Mango, Dwarf Coconut, Red Lime, and Honeybell Orange.
The water recovery system will be getting a solar pump asap.

Looks great at2! You have some hardworking boys there! Keep us updated with more pics as you plant all those great seedlings and things fill in more. My yard will be covered in white for at least another 3 months, so seeing those tropical greens is a boost to the morale!

Wow, terrific. Congratulations on such a big start up and with great helpers too.  It took me 3 years to slowly build up (with different shape boxes) to the equivalent of 10 boxes. I'm the only one that works in the garden.  I look forward to more pictures of your success!

There's nothing like young, strong help

Post  kauairosina on 1/20/2014, 1:48 am

Thanks for sharing.  I don't know what zone I'm in (yet) but it looks like similar climate. I live on Kauai, Hawaii.  It makes me happy to see someone else preparing and planting at this time of year.
