Broken Ball Jars

Post  llama momma on 1/31/2014, 1:42 pm

When I received a shipping box, inside was a cardboard case of Ball jars.  It didn't have any slips of cardboard between the jars to prevent breakage.  The case was made of the typical green cardboard with Ball logo.  It's rather flimsy green cardboard on the bottom and sides and only shrink wrap holds it all together.  Two of the jars were smashed to almost powder.   When I told the story to a Ball rep she sent me two $5.00 coupons that can be used on the next two purchases.  I have to commend Ball for sending me coupons with no photographic proof and no receipt.  Still I am shocked they send out glass products in this manner.   Wondering if anyone else has issues?

Thats how they sell them at the stores.  You'd think they'd package them better if they're shipping them.  I always buy mine at the store.

I miss the days of canning jars fully packaged with closable boxes and cardboard dividers between the jars. And the lids all worked and there was a sheet of labels in each case of jars.

Those were the days!

My incident occurred as a Christmas gift. Like you said R&R store bought is the way to go.
I won't order these by mail.  I'm kind of afraid the rest of the jars are stressed or weakened too. May use those to store dehydrated items. The thought of filled jars breaking in a canner, don't want to go there.

Well Camp maybe everyone needs to call them and /or write to them and they need to understand it is to be their cost of doing business!
