Milky Way ad obscures log in bar

Post  Nonna.PapaVino on 3/14/2014, 11:08 am

Am I the only one who gets a Milky Way ad plastered right over the log in block?  Really frustrating trying to guess where the "User name" and "Password" lines are hidden behind the ad.  Nonna

I only have a problem when I am on my tablet and the forum doesn't automatically load. It is directly related to the size of my screen and which browser I am using. If you go to your preferences I think you can configure your account to automatically log in.

Nonna  I get the same milkyway ad and sometimes other ads will cover if up too.  But the cursor is still blinking through the ad. I blindly type the info and log in anyway.

I occasionally get the Milky Way ad and have to blindly log in. My name is auto so all I have to be careful with is the password.

Does the ad get in the way of the log in at the bottom of the home page?

Never noticed a log-on at the bottom. Will have to check next time I log on.

Yes, I have that problem, too, even on my laptop.  I didn't know there was a login bar at the bottom...

I just logged out and I'll be darned...there IS a log in at the bottom. My name was filled in, my password was there, all I had to do was hit the login button.

Did you just put that there, boffer??? tongue

I get the same milkyway ad and it covers the log in for me too  Mad the only way I was able to log in is because I could see the curser blinking, so I just type in my sign in name and used the tab button to move me to the pass word spot and type that in and then just hit enter....other wise if I tried to do any thing else the milkyway ad got in the way......

I too never knew there was a sign in at the bottom of the front page

I don't have a log in at the bottom of the home page but I have not had to log in with my name and password in a long time so I don't need the home page log in.  Maybe it only shows if you are not automatically logged in.  thinking  thinking  thinking

That is correct. You will only see the log in windows if you are logged out and do not have your settings to automatically log you in when you come to the SFG forum..

Milky Way ad mucking up log on bar again.  So, Camp, how do I change my settings to
automatically log on?  Or to avoid repeating what's already on the Forum, what should be entered in the SEARCH block up at left of the "Post a reply" pictured above?  Thanks, Nonna

Nonna, I think the way to be automatically logged in when ever you open the forum is to never log out.  Apparently when you close the SFG screen, after half an hour it shows you as logged out.  Then when you come back to SFG it shows you as logged in.

Yes, I added the log-in bar on the page bottom.

Inbetween picking Frito crumbs out of her keyboard and licking Milky Ways off of her fingers,  Razz  CC correctly described how auto-login works.

Instead of fighting ads,  eliminate them with a free download called Adblock.  Google 'Adblock' to find the version for your browser.

Alright Mr techie smart, get that reverse camera action off my monitor!

All joking aside, I took your advice on the adblock with my work computer and it works fantastic! Thank you so much... I think I'll try it here too.  I even saw that they have one for tablets.

FWIW, I don't get any pop-up ads but I have taken extra steps to avoid them including Ad-Block and other software.  I use Firefox to browse because I found IE to be bloated, slow, and prone to too many pop-ups without adequate tools to prevent them.
