Karla,
Guess what my girlfriend brought in tonight....yes a greenhouse!!
She is the greatest so now I will be able to do just as you describe start my seedling inside under lights and then move them when they are ready to transplant to the greenhouse...this is so cool!!!

So, which model did you end up getting?
Well Bob,
She sprang for the model you posted the video of. It really seem much higher quality unit, hopefully I will get it set up the coming weekend and let everyone interested know. Thanks for the tip!!

That's awesome! Hope you can share some pictures and a review when you get it set up, I am really considering getting one while on sale, if I can just find a place for it.

Will do Bob,
Hopefully this weekend will be good weather and I can get it set up. Yeah I plan on taking pictures and yes I will try to do a review as time goes on. This is exciting for me I have wanted a greenhouse for many years, and just never had the chance till now.....really looking forward to this!!

P.S Oh by the way my girlfriend tells me the sale in our area goes out Sunday the 23rd.

Re: Big Lots Greenhouse

Post  Pollinator on 3/21/2014, 8:52 pm

Here's my cheap greenhouse solution - much sturdier than the kits you buy, also quite a bit larger. No worries about wind damage. I used 4 mil poly for the cover. It lasts one season. I could get UV-protected poly, that would last a lot longer, but then the plants inside would have to be hardened off gradually. With this cover, the UV goes through the plastic, which eventually makes it brittle, but the plants are already hardened and can go out of the greenhouse any time. I have about $100 invested, and it takes about $25 each year to re-cover it.

I really like the lean to design, really strong. Very good idea, thanks Pollinator.
