New to squarefoot gardening

Post  Terrab on 3/30/2014, 1:45 pm

Took on a full time job for the last 2 years and my garden shows it. Hoping this will cut down my weeding time and get my veggies back in order. lol I really liked the cinder block garden and was wondering where is it best for my trellises to be placed. Long part of garden faces south, will the trellises be best on the east and west, or just the north? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

The general rule is on the north side.

Me?  On the south, north, and west depending on the location of the fences, trees and house, and seasonal sun location.  I do what I have to do because of limitations of the teeny back yard.

Now for those with arched trellises . . ?

+1
And according to what is planted in which bed this year.  Sometimes a west trellis can protect the inner rows of plants from a harsh western sun.

Speaking for myself, I went due north. Thank goodness for the compass on my iPhone.
