Re: Inferiority Complex

Post  GWN on 4/7/2014, 2:30 pm

I wrote this on the anniversary..   Thank you for all your warm  wishes...
I am working on my sons taxes and pulling my hair out

It is here I leave you dragon, like a foot print along the sand
when the tide comes high tomorrow, your the disease , I never had.

I shall relish in the glory of a battle fairly won
neither one of us surrendered and only one of us has won

I was so afraid of dying, I was so afraid you'd win
I believe this made me weaker, I believe this let you in

In disease you had the power, I was weak and you were strong
but I found my  strength in numbers, then I found my strength in song

and should  strength be found in numbers,  in the whispers, in the songs
my the beast be slain in each of us……………………..

I have cried for lives you’ve taken, I have cried for lives left in ruin
I have cried for fear of my life, I am only human, its all I could do

It is here I leave you dragon, as the waves roll towards the shore
I realize my time is over, I need not carry you anymore.

It is here I leave you dragon as the waves roll to the shore
You have had enough of my life, now you have to let me go

Around here, a number of people brag happily about their ages. I don't blame them. Every year older you are than people are expected to get, especially in reasonably good health and vigor, is like a victory you've won that a lot of other people did not win, may not win, perhaps even cannot win. Even if it's not quite an accomplishment, it's certainly a victory.

Fine writing.  I loved the one about looking old for her age of 20 years younger.  And I totally agree with the person who said they tell their age because they don't want others to think they look mighty old for a younger age.

I stand by being delighted to still be on this earth at 78.  My husband died 16 years ago and didn't get the pleasure.

Have a nice sleep and remember.... balance.... a bit of gardening, a bit of looking at your garden, a bit of thinking about your garden,   ... and then you can dream about your garden.

79??? Kelejan!! wow! I'm impressed! way to go. DONT worry about those shows! They have a STAFF of people making sure they look good before they start to film I'm sure! Who would watch a show with a garden full of weeds?  Well, maybe some of us would, but you get the point! Fear not, your time is coming!!
Keep up the stickers!! lol

One of the first jobs I did on coming out the armed forces in 1980 was doorman /flunky at our 400 plus employee town hall .

HM Queen Elizabeth was due to visit in four weeks time so we minions could see what we were getting for our taxes. Laughing .

Two days before she came an army of people arrived ,   floors were covered in several sheets of thinck black  polysheet .  Truck loads of washings from a veg processing plant 30 miles away were wheel  barrowed in .

Several box body 3 ton trucks appeared & disgorged tall plant trolley after tall plant trolley(  all  six decks ) being crammed full of pots full of just on the point of breaking into bloom flowers .

A dozen of so people worked well into the early hours planting these potted plants ( Laughing  I was on overtime @ x 2 & 1/2 rate) Pizza deliveries & take away curries arrived all the time.

I closed up around 03.00 hrs and was back on duty at 06.30.
In the early morning light , coming into the town hall it looked as though it had been growing there for ever.

The next day people kept coming in , spraying with leaf gloss ,water etc. etc. polishing 7 dusting etc.etc  the town hall never looks so clean .

Discrete flood lights were placed high up to flood light the flowers & features etc. to their best advantage .

HM. QE. arrived at 11.30 hrs. the next day .. every plant bar a few was now in magnificent bloom . She came & went , within hours of her leaving teams came in and shovelled everything into a convoy of dumpsters , then a deep cleaning team came in to scrub & disinfect the main entrance & hall way .

Estimated cost was well over £ 65 K  ( $ 100,000 USD ) that was over 30 years ago . Now worth about three times that ) .

So don't ever be ashamed or feel inferior at a garden that shows your hard work & individual touch .

Plantoid, you have really, really, made my day.  Very Happy
I had a good idea that this sort of thing went on, and I think it sickens me that all this effort is lavished on one human being when it could be spread around and make peoples' lives better even in some small way. Mad
Even if nothing was left behind, Plantoid, at least the place was cleaned up. Smile
It was interesting hear a first-hand account of something like this.

Quote:

Did they think Her Majesty left a few germs behind?
If they shovelled everthing in dumpsters, were they going to dump the stuff?

I personally am glad there are no like buttons on this forum. The reason being that it is a lazy way of doing things, and it means so much more when someone takes the trouble and effort to write in words that they like things. It means so much more to me. Even if one puts a +1 etc, they have taken the time to do more then tick a box, and generally it means that someone agrees with a previous writer who has written in.
Anyway, here in British Columbia, although a long winter, it was nothing like the rest of Canada and a large part of the U.S. My heart goes out to them now that some people are facing yet more floods.  I love you

Like buttons and, er ... the like ... tend to turn forums into popularity contests, in-groups and out-groups, and infantile power contests, which can quickly bring out the worst in people, most definitely including mods, and turn a forum revolting. I'm glad we don't have them here.
