Wrong time for bulbs - but crossing my fingers

Post  edfhinton on 5/4/2014, 4:09 pm

So my wife and I bought three bags of bulbs (tulips and daffodils) last fall but had forgotten to plant them.  Doing some cleaning today my wife found the bags and saw they were all starting to grow right in the bags (anywhere from 1/2" to 2" long thick green sprouts.)  So we are giving them a shot.  We planted them in rows by expected height and are going to cross our fingers.  Nights are generally in the 40s and days running in the 60s, so I am hopinh we will be lucky and they will grow.

Even if they don't bloom this year, let them grow and store food in the bulb for overwintering.  If they live they should bloom next year.

I'm waging that they will flower this year, even if only some do.  Nothing to lose planting them now.  And next year . .
