Hello SFG

Post  galebm06 on 5/8/2014, 12:56 pm

I have been trying to SFG over the past few years with so-so success.  I have recently retired and hope to be able to put more effort into than I have in the past.  Can you believe I have never been able to grow beets in my SFG!  I must be doing something wrong. I am hoping this site will help.

Hi Gale.  Welcome!  Glad you're here.

You might try looking in the regional posts (from the home page) to see what others have to say about beets in your area.

HI there and Welcome to the SFG Forum!!

I have to say that some years are better than others to grow beetroot. Also they don't like the soil/growing mix to be too rich. Use a well rounded homemade compost in the bed before sowing. Beets are a cool season crop.
Thanks for the reminder, I need to sow my beets this week.
