Add to last year's soil?

Post  mamaotwo on 5/11/2014, 4:07 pm

Hello all,

Do I need to add more compost to last year's box soil I made according to Mel's mix?

Thanks!

Hi Amyanna.  Welcome!

In the 2nd Edition, page 155 at the bottom - Harvest & replant

Every time you pull a plant after harvesting, add a trowel of compost and you're ready for the next plant.

Easy-peasy...!

Have fun!

1st Edition: pages 142 & 143, Harvest and Replant, and Next Crop. Add a trowel full of compost per square before replanting.

2nd Edition: pages 155 & 156, Harvest and Replant, and Next Crop.

Some folk add even more compost, especially if the Mix has shrunk below 6"! Check out compost topics by typing in 'Compost' or 'Top dressing' in the Search Box.

Add only compost and as much as you can fit in the box so the mix will be level wit the top. Stir it in, level the Mel mix, place the grid, plant and enjoy.   Very Happy

I'll be nice since you're new!  (But just fyi - I can be "just a bit" sarcastic & silly, lol.  Hope it won't bother you!)

That would be a Boffer or Allen question.  You might try sending Boffer a private message if he doesn't respond.  (He's GREAT with quick responses.  But since it's Mother's Day...  And he's good about keeping an eye on all the posts.)

If that's necessary, hit the P.M. tab at the top, type boffer in the "to" field and go from there.
