Ahhhhh
thats for me, what a nice job...
Now if we could only figure out how to rig up a rail with a seat to completely encircle the bed.

Shocked Thanks. This lady is sweet as honey but she isn't my wife. I built this for her to get her up and moving. She needed something to keep her moving. Old folks die when they have nothing to do. That's a fact JACK!

I'll be building a couple of those in the next couple weeks.  We have a lot of old pallets to get rid of at work and I intend to turn one of our old unused areas at work into an elevated vegie garden.  I hope it works.

Howdy, Pappy!

How high is the top of the bed sides from the ground?  I built mine at 40" but now think they are too tall.  If I were to build one for the lady across the street, I think it should be lower.

You are preaching to the choir on this forum cause that's why I invested in tabletops.

Are you saying I should stop posting about tabletops? I'm not sure I understand your reply? I'm sorry but I can't tell if you're being a smart ass or not. Can you explain please?

No I mean that keeping active and having something to do keeps you alive.  Tabletops allow me to keep gardening.

HAHA, thanks for clearing that up for me Kay. For a minute I thought a troll was on the loose.....Everyone on here has been real nice. Ah, sometimes I don't understand the language and need clarification. I'm pretty old and at times get lost like a ball in high weeds.

You're right Pappy this forum is filled with really nice people.
If a troll appears you can be nearly certain they will be quickly warned, banned temporarily, or completely banned.  Happy to observe it hardly happened in the past 4 years.
So... this is a great place to hang out!   Smile

I'll agree LM.
I have been here for over a year and never felt an ounce of smartness or sarcasm from any post's.
Nothing but refreshing assistance, along with some witty humor.

That is great! I sometimes get confused the way things are worded. You can bet your boots I will ask for an explanation.
I don't know SFG like most of the fine folks on here but I've been treated good so far. It's hard to find a group of experts that don't prey on a newbie's ignorance.

Hello all.  New to the forum but not to gardening. Pappy I love your table to garden.  My niece has Cerebral Palsy and is confined to a wheel chair.  A couple of years ago she decided that she wanted a garden.  I helped my sister build 2 boxes.  We set them on saw horses on the concrete patio.  It was easier for K to move her chair on the concrete rather than on grass.  We drilled holes in the bottom of the boxes for drainage and lined the bottom with landscape cloth to keep the soil in.  Each box had a frame on one end for growing cucumbers and tomatoes vertically.

I can not tell you how much pleasure that beautiful young woman got out of her garden.  She would never have had that experience were it not for SFG.

Hi Elizabeth   and WELOME
That is exactly what I was thinking about.
I'm not handicapped, nor do I know anyone who is, however in recent years I've had a mother living in a nursing home and upon visiting her have seen many instances where what you did would be so practical and welcomed, I'm sure.
I picture myself in a wheel chair and having the material needed at my finger tips, what a blessing that would be.
Being able to manipulate some what, along with growing plants would make people happy in their own little world.

Re: Another Table Top

I am relatively young - 61 - but my body is old.  I was in a near fatal accident 10 years ago.  The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.  Not being able to do what I want to do is a major frustration.  My Niece is the star of my life. When ever I feel frustrated with my physical limitations I visit my niece.  That puts things back in perspective.

Being able to provide  a gardening experience to people who could not garden other wise is one of the great joys of SFG.
