Few pics of my 'maters...

Post  s1rGr1nG0 on 5/18/2014, 8:56 pm

Well, so far things are doing ok I think. I snapped these pics earlier while I was out doing some routine maintenance of pruning and bug chasing.  Smile
In no particular order I have some Super Sweet Hybrid Cherries, Red Cherry, Yellow Pear, BrandyWine, Steak Sandwich, and Cherokee Purple. I have little flowers all over the place and some tiny tomatoes popping up everywhere. I did have some yellowing of the lower leaves that looked to be slowing going up the plant so I put out some epsom salt today and will be keeping a very close eye on that. Other than that everything seems to be doing great!

Nice looking brandywines! Wow, your season is soooo far ahead of mine. It'll be a long time till I see a ripe tomato.

Wow those look like healthy plants and tomatoes! I got all excited today because I found a few nearly microscopic flowers starting on mine.

Yellowing leaves

Post  Rahab222 on 5/20/2014, 1:23 am

So yellowing, lower leaves means I need to add Epsom salts to the soil?  I'm in Houston, too, and I was wondering if the yellow leaves were from all the rain we've had.  My section got over 7 inches in about 8 hours last week.  What do you think?

Epsom salts add magnesium to the soil. Your soil may not need magnesium. Too much of it could cause problems. Proceed, if you do, with caution.
