problems with plants??

Post  jennfinn1986 on 5/23/2014, 11:45 pm

High everyone. I have a few plants in my garden that are starting to concern me. The bottom leaves on my green bean vines seem to be dying but the rest is growing and looks beautiful. I'm wondering if its because the leaves are buried and not getting any sunlight because potato plants are blocking the bottom parts. I learned not to plant potatoes with anything else...Lol.....the bottom branches of my tomato are turning yellow...also some spots on one of my squash. I took pictures so can see what I mean. If anyone knows what's wrong and any fixes I'd greatly appreciate it. Here's the link to photos

Hi Jennfinn.

Greenbeans - Are you watering over everything & getting the leaves wet?  They don't like wet leaves...  It looks like that's some of the spots.  And wet leaves can lead to fungal diseases.

Not sure about the squash.

You might check with your local Extension Service.

Hi jenn, to me it looks like typical lower bean leaves. they tend to reach the end of their productivity and then become weak and die. Just pinch the effected lower leaves off the bottom of the vine. If you are having troubles higher up on the vine post a photo.

The squash looks a bit like downy mildew but the image cannot be expanded for closer inspection. Again remove the effected leaves and put them in the trash.

OK thanks for the link! Should I just buy new plants from nursery and replant before its too late or is it already too late in season. That link didn't sound like its treatable. Preventable but not treatable.

just take off the effected leaves and trash those. Try to correct the conditions that are hospitable to the DM. Use the search feature fore more threads on the subject.
