Pictures and Advice Needed on Sunshine and Watering

Finally I figured out how to post a picture!  (sorry it's sideways) Here's my SFG with its chicken wire and bird netting so that no one can get in but me (I've got lots of hungry groundhogs and squirrels)- and even that is not so simple. 

But here's my dilemma:  My next door neighbor and friend wants to have a bit more privacy (which is fine with me) but she wants to plant 5-6 foot tall bushes for this purpose along the fence and I count on that morning sun for part of my 6 hours of sunlight a day - so if she plants there, behind my garden, I'll lose out on a few hours of precious sunlight (the afternoon sun I get lasts until about 4:00 due to trees on the other side of my yard)

So any advice how much sunlight I absolutely need?
and also:  I'd love some watering advice since I can't put in a drip system this year....

Is there any chance of a compromise?  Half solid, half redwood lattice fence:

You could promise to plant vining peas and beans there.  Very Happy

Great idea!  Thanks Sanderson.

I will suggest it!
She is also thinking of some 2x2 raised beds to put shrubs in, and I suggested maybe putting those on wheels so that we could roll them away in the morning so I can have my sunlight and then back in the afternoon for privacy...

it would be a lot of rolling, but I'm willing to do just about anything for my garden!

seems like whatever is going to give us privacy will also give us shade....

Thanks Sanderson!

Do you have an opinion on whether it's better to use a soaker hose vs. a drip irrigation for my two beds?  I've been reading earlier threads/posts and I'm not sure which way to go...
I've got mostly tomatoes, corn, eggplant, cucumbers, peppers, melon....

I wasn't going to install one this year, but I'm rethinking it now....

I only use drip lines, so I don't have any personal information on soaker hoses. I take it you have already used the Search box for soaker hoses. I do know that driplines work, especially when the "drips" are every 6".

yes, I've been reading the soaker hose threads, and I already own one...
but somehow I'm getting the sense that the drip irrigation with tubing is just a better way
to go...
I'll give it some thought and as always, thanks for your guidance!!!!
