I just read that very chapter this morning, Jimmy!  Coincidence?  I think not!  
130F is satisfactory for killing weed seeds without killing the compost.



leafy vegetables require nitrogen for good leaf development, but 'burning off' carbon won't increase the nitrogen content of the compost.

So, feed the cabbages a little nitrogen mid winter (here in California)?

Now that I have a garden, I prefer to pick my own raw foods when I can.
