Built a Compost Strainer Labor Day Weekend, 2014

Post  dstack on 9/1/2014, 6:25 pm

This weekend's building project: Compost Strainer

Most of the wood was reclaimed. You can barely hear me, but you get the idea.  Perhaps next weekend I'll demonstrate straining the compost.

Pretty nice looking compost strainer.  How did you make the track for the wheels to stay on track.

I picked up some wood pieces in Lowes' scrap heap that had the tracks. Then I found casters that made a perfect fit.  Very Happy

Ah ha.  I have a few of those lying around I picked up at home depot.  They use them for running straps around a load of merchandise to keep it from falling off the pallet.  It keeps the sides of the stack of merchandise from getting damaged when the straps are tightened.

Demonstrating my newly built compost strainer. (Video)

Post  dstack on 9/7/2014, 8:25 pm

I thought I was going to need to modify the strainer by putting in stops for more of a jolt,  but I really don't think it's necessary. Straining was  easier than I expected it would be!  Very Happy

Ah HA again.  Now I see how the whole contraption stays on the wheel barrow.  On your last video you did not show the holes where the pieces of wood fit into the sides of the wheel barrow.  Or if you did, I didn't notice them.

Yes, I made sure to explicitly point that out this time.  I assumed people would notice last time.  Glad you like it.
