lawn grubs

Post  jimmy cee on 12/21/2014, 11:28 am

My lawn has taken a hit.
Enough grubs under the mat to warrant treatment.
I am most likely going to use a chemical treatment as any other ( milky spore ) will take to long.and my understanding is, good only for JBs.
We have seen no Japanese beetles at all, so I'm assuming these aren't JBs.
Have any of you worked with grub treatments and if yes, how were the results. ?
Yes we have had moles, voles etc for years, I keep traps out for them.
I have trapped them coming out of tunnels.
We have racoons, skunks, etc digging up our lawn to get at them.
I am going to attempt to find what kind they are, however I understand it is difficult.
What say you people of SFG ?

Well, Jimmy - it is a bit late in the season to "chemically treat" the grubs - the winter protects them and some are even pupating in order to become spring summer adults.

The only thing good about moles is that they eat insect grubs, etc. - but those tunnels need to go!

Check out this PSU article and see if it helps:
