yogurt cups for seed starting

Post  jimmy cee on 12/28/2014, 2:41 pm

This is a more refined version of my using yogurt cups in seed starting
The cups as you see here are available in all grocery stores, other brands are similar in size.
The teflon scouring pad makes a great retainer for whatever growing material you use.
It also allows water to flow freely through.

Rim should be trimmed off what was the bottom

Water freely

I use these cup outside in summer to start fall crops also.
When finished I wash everything in bleach  water and store till next use.
Sitting on rolling racks they can be moved in and out of sunlight as needed

Nicely done, jimmycee.  I need inspiring people to help get on track instead of the messy person I have become.

I hope it is okay if I post my generic yogurt cups for the technically challenged.

Do you have problems removing plant from container ?
With the open bottom, a push is all it takes, it comes out (mostly) in one piece.

No problem getting them out. I think the smoothness of the sides and the weight of the media makes it easier to tap it out, easier than wrestling with a 6-pack
