Tony,  Welcome to the Forum from California!  glad you\'re here I'm guessing that most of the members never meet another SFG gardener in person, but feel they are connected to and "know" many.  That's how active this Forum is and how helpful the members are. We would love to know more about your hopes and dreams for a Square Foot Garden. Please go to the Home page and "Introduce Yourself." One of the first things, have you read the All New Square Foot Gardening, 1st or 2nd Edition, by Mel Bartholomew?

Hello Tony and everyone.  We live in Longview, TX a couple hours east of you on I-20.  We just joined the site here and must say I'm impressed.  When we lived on a farm we had 1.5 acre garden all in rows.  We have been living in town for over 20 years without a garden and have missed all the fresh fruits and vegetables.  I just made a 4 ft. SFG and planted a few things, but wish I had done a bit more planning first.  If all goes well this year, then we plan to expand next year with the limited space we have.

Cuthbert,  Welcome to the Forum from California!  glad you\'re here   Love your avatar. Very Happy

I live in the city on a 6,000 sq ft lot.  I found this Forum in 2013 and read the book All New Square Foot Gardening by Mel Bartholomew (our Founder).  I started with a couple small boxes and now have (I think) 93 sq. ft in boxes tucked here and there, plus large pots of eggplants and peppers, and buckets of tomatoes and totes and cages of potatoes and sweet potatoes, plus a 3' x 3' x 3' compost pile squeeze between a rose bush and crepe myrtle tree .  It can be VERY addictive! Shocked
