Mystery Flower - What's my name?

Post  TinySpock on 4/7/2015, 11:32 pm

Can anyone I.D. this plant for me?  It's a planting of "Wildflower Mix" seeds.  Anyone recognize it?

It's Mexican Evening Primrose, one of my favorite flowering plants, albeit invasive - I'm up for the challenge!

They're considered weeds in the West because their roots invade the neighboring plantings; I love to see them en masse!

Here's another picture, they spread like weeds:

The flowers are gorgeous!

Once those beauties discover the MM they take over, spreading everywhere. Be prepared: I've had to yank everything out of one of my beds and weed it at monthly intervals and they still pop up- they seem to propagate by root sections, so any roots missed pop up with new primroses. They grow just like bermuda grass or nutsedge Evil or Very Mad
