Re: What New Veggie Are You Trying This Year?

Now that we are in the height of planting season and going to the nursery season Rolling Eyes I find that I am taking on a few more new to me plants.
I realized that I still have bags of frozen basil and I am out of seed so I am not growing it this year. THat opened up several squares in the greenhouse. That space has now had cumin seeds (from the spice rack) sprinkled across it and stevia and rosemary plants transplanted. Now to see what happens. What a Face

Any one else find themselves with a few more experiments than anticipated?

Lemon grass (2 pots). First success in 3 summers. So, of course, my cat like to snack on it.

Sanderson, we bought a lemongrass plant for the first time. When I looked it up it seems to me that it is to big for a pot. How big does it get? I was going to plant it today on the side of our house but would like it in a pot if possible.

Adding scarlet kale.

I'm also letting some of last year's plants go to seed for the first time to collect and save. Hmm... I think I'll start a new thread on that topic if there isn't one already.

We tried broccoli, cabbage, and carrots. It wasn't successful. We will try again in the fall with suggested row covers. We are also trying Sugar Baby Watermelons, Buttercup and Spaghetti squash. Also new to our garden are Ladreth Bush beans and White Scallop Squash. We also have some new pepper to our garden. We are growing Shishitos, Mexibells, Lunchbox orange and mini yellow bells.

Since we had squares to spare last year, we are giving 9 over to zucchini this year which will be a new venture for us.
