Hi Gang, back from a winter of lurking, ready to go gardening

Post  Judy McConnell on Thu Apr 23, 2015 9:00 am

My lurking is over and after a cold winter, the beds are beginning to wake up.

Have 6 4x8' beds that date from 2006 and are rapidly falling apart but 3 of them are filled with flowering plants - want to move the flowers somewhere else so the to-be-repaired beds can be used for vegetables.

This spring saw the addition of 4 2x4' tabletops, 2 4x4' raised beds, a 2x8' bed, and to-be-erected a 4x8' bed (still deciding where light is best for it).

Plants in two of the table tops include savory cabbage, red-leaf lettuce and just planted beet seeds.  Onions are in another 2 beds as well as a 100 new strawberry plants.  The bunch onions (scallions) seeds are just sprouting.

Twenty-three various types of tomatoes and 5 pepper babies are on the porch, waiting to be planted in 5 gallon containers - this is going slowly for me. Need to keep them on porch until May 15 for safety sake.  Lots of disease last season - but hope springs eternal.

Carrots did very well last year so will be growing (I hope) more as well as a couple of other root-types.

No cucs (didn't do anything last season) but will be trying a couple of squash on trellises.

Hope everyone has a great growing season.

Well, you may have been lurking but you sure have not been idle. Judy.

Look forward to your progress.
