Hello from Southern Colorado

Post  Rick494 on 4/24/2015, 4:13 pm

Hello from the base of Pikes Peak.  I've been attempting to garden off and on since 1985.  This is my second year working on SFG.  Last year, my first attempt at SFG, was my most successful season at gardening despite a devastating summer hail storm and some neglect. Sad

I discovered SFG while searching on the web for how to improve my garden and soon ordered Mel's book.  Any suggestions on how to better what I'm doing is welcome.

welcome Rick424!  My best success at gardening (since moving from CA) has been since I started SFG's as well.  Starting my 5th season this year.

glad you\'re here Rick434  happy hi

You have already taken the  second-best step after starting  SFG by joining this Forum. IMO Very Happy

There is so much info here you may need some guidance. Ask questions, then as you know what questions to ask you can use the search box in the upper left hand corner of this page. I find the problem is what words to use as you might get overwhelmed with posts to read when you may only want a quick answer.

Welcome from 35 miles south of the Springs.. Best thing is follow the book, and find five different kinds of compost. We make our own, get composed cow from the prison, bulk compost from the garden center in Canon and the rest as we find it. I have one suggestion from living in the Springs for many years. Always plant at least three tomatoes in pots so that you can bring them inside when it hails. Rolling Eyes

Now you tell me. Smile  Last year hail all but destroyed my tomatoes.  Most of them recovered, but late in the season so I didn't get much out of them.

Thanks for all the welcomes.
