I received a message that the ads have stopped. I would love to take all the credit, but I wasn't me, directly. I just squawked and squeaked. Some elf must have done it.

Well, Sanderson, hate to tell you this, but the ads have not stopped. I still had a tan rectangle where the ad had been. So, I disabled adblock, plus, and they are still there.
I think I have to much time on my hands.  I will turn back on adblock, and not worry about it!

same here...ads are still up, and the colored trees that identify if I've read a thread or not are also gone still. Sad

I've had the ads for the last couple days, and they're gone now.  Let's give it a day or two for all of forumotion's servers to get updated.

In the meantime, try Ctrl+F5.  This will refresh the page to get a clean download without looking at your browser's cache, which sometimes makes a page look the same after changes have been made.

The colored tree has been missing for some time, and it's on the to-do list.  Let's keep in mind that there's a steep learning curve when taking over the admin's job.   Sanderson is progressing quickly, and every day she looks less and less shell-shocked!  cheers

I wouldn't have thought that is a moderator issue, figured it was just a website thing.
No biggy on my end as a couple of other forums have tons on ads on them.

Wow, that Adblock Plus works great!  I was seeing the ads and now I'm not.  Plus now I don't have to deal with the ads in the other forums either.

Thanks, Littlejo!

P.S. thanks for all you do, too, Sanderson!!!

The ad blockers do work great, but honestly, I don't mind well-targeted ("relevant" to the visitor) and tastefully presented ads.  And as long as it doesn't obstruct access to the content.  This site is well within those limits for me, and I'm more than happy to pay the price of viewing ads from sponsors who help fund this great content!

I love Adblock too, and highly recommend it, but it's not a good a long term solution for the forum.  We have too many new members who find it challenging just learning their way around the forum.  Since our focus is gardening, we try to keep the necessary computer skills as simple as possible.

One reason we started removing ads was when we got complaints that some of the ads weren't family friendly.  That was in 2011, and I'll concede that ad relevancy has improved since then.  Personally, I detest being bombarded by marketers everywhere I go.
