Not sure, Donna...

What I'm planning to do is first kill all the grass/weeds in that area w/ cardboard & mulch. Then I was planning to rent a rototiller and go down a foot or so 18-24 inches wide. Mix in a bunch of humus/compost/MM. Make it an 8" raised bed with more of the MM especially.

But if I don't have to go thru all that mess....

I'm with you. I don't want a tangled mess! That's one of the reasons I haven't pushed this with DH. I want to make sure I've got all my duckies in a row & research done before I start.

I don't know how much time you have, Marie, but if you haven't started the bed by midseason remind me and I'll let you know how mine are doing in the five to six inches of MM. There's no way they're going  below those four layers of cardboard anytime soon.

Thanks, CC. I know it won't be this year... Too much going on and too many projects waiting, lol!

So I'll look forward to seeing how yours do. I really don't want to dig if I don't have to, if you know what I mean... :-)
