Planting guides

Post  seamammal on 7/20/2015, 9:54 pm

Did some searches on this forum and did not find what I was looking for, so thought I would throw it out to the group.

I am looking for websites or other resources that tell you when to sow what? for example, what should I be considering for the fall and when should I put the seeds in the ground for my zone.

Thanks for the help.

Our county extension office have a great seasonal planting calendar, of course that is the other side of the country from you. I'll defer to some of the others for California information.

I use myfolia.com for a good portion of the information you are looking for. It's all about timing, location, first frost, etc

And gardenate will send you a monthly reminder.  So does Old Farmer's Almanac.

johnnyseeds.com is another good one.

The garden planner from GrowVeg.com (recommended by Mother Earth News and the Old Farmers' Almanac) will tell you when to do seeds and transplants for all the things you've put in your garden.  It will even send regular reminders to you via email of when to do all these things.

Thanks. I have been using their software to plan the garden but haven't really checked out the site.
