Two firsts for me

Two firsts for me

Two plants that I am growing for the first time. Actually one is the second but nothing grew the first year. The first is the Hopi squash which is supposed to be quite good. It looks like it is going to be pretty large. Our neighbor that has the orchard has grown them before and he raves about the taste. The second one are from seeds given to me by a Chinese friend who also gave me China cucumber seeds. She calls them Egyptian Pumpkins. She says she grew them last year and the average size is 40 to 50 pounds. She says they are really good also. We will see.

Hopi squash, feels like it is about 5 to 8 pounds now.


She calls these an Egyptian pumpkin. My friend with the orchard raises pumpkins also and he thinks it may be a large squash variety.

That Hopi squash is cool looking. I hope you can pick it at the right size so it still has good texture/flavor.
