Virtual Flyovers - Nova Scotia - Eskasoni

Post  trolleydriver on 9/22/2015, 5:34 pm

This one is for Cherbear. The flight is in a DHC3 Otter starting from CDW2 (Baddeck (Crown Jewel) airport to Eskasoni with a landing on the water. The area is in beautiful Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Mrs TD and I lived in Nova Scotia for almost 6 years in the 1970s.

The flight takes us over the town of Baddeck, across part of the Bras d'Or Lake and up the peninsula past the community of Eskaloni. We then loop back and land on the water near Eskaloni. Unfortunately the flight simulator scenery does not display any of the buildings in the community.

The first heavier than air powered flight in Canada took place near Baddeck when the Silver Dart took off on frozen Bras d'Or Lake. Alexander Graham Bell had an estate near Baddeck starting in 1886 and that is the place to which he retired. He also had a research lab there and experimented with man-carrying kites, airplanes and hydrofoil boats.

Information about Eskasoni can be found at http://www.eskasoni.ca/home/ and other web sites.

Beautiful country. We have been to PEI twice with a long lay over one time in NS at the airport. Did they ever announce how many stuffed red lobsters were in the glass bin?
