Tonight's lunar eclipse

Post  sanderson on 9/27/2015, 1:35 pm

Just a reminder that tonight there will be a super moon and a lunar eclipse, something that will not occur again until 2033.  I think it will occur between 10-11 PM in the East and 7-8 PM in the West.  http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/heres-when-and-where-to-watch-sundays-supermoon-eclipse/ar-AAeKVKM?li=BBgzzfc?ocid=ansmsnnews11

At the moment we have clear and sunny skies.  Almost without exception, when the celestial event, whatever it is, and where ever I am, the skies cloud over, so I am not holding my breath.
Sad

I did see the Echo satellite.  I think that was in the 1960s.

Sanderson,

I heard that this eclipse will begin at 9:00 p.m. EDT, or 6:00 PDT.  It's probably best to keep an eye out at moonrise time in your locale.

Oh dear!.  We have clear skies but unfortunately I fell asleep at the wrong time and completely missed it.  Just walked the dog and the full moon is riding high and bright and its usual colour. Sad  Now I have to wait another 18 years?

KJ, I'm so sorry you missed it, I watched it for you. Smile The clouds thinned out enough to see the moon. We couldn't see it above the horizon until the eclipse was almost complete. Just a bit of red halo and crescent. Then, after a bit, we could see the moon return in all its bright white glory.

It was cloudy/drizzeley here, so I didn't get to see it.  And all of the "live feed" links just led to stories about lunar eclipses...  Very frustrating.

But I think my aunt in CT got to see it.

Me, too.  But everyone else here saw it, and there are some beautiful photos floating around, even a time lapse video:

it was really partly cloudy here but that added to the magic.  We got to see it slowly cover to full and red errrr total eclipse but the skeeters finally won the battle and chased us in we took some pics soon as I figure out if they came out I'll post a link.

It was cloudy and rainy here so we didn't get to see it. I spent a good couple of hours trying to find a decent video of it to show my boys but gave up. Thank you capecoddess for posting that link.
