Hi there, Daisy, and Welcome from Ohio, USA! You are in the right spot if you SFG and relaated activities! Composting, canning, vermicomposting, recipes, and honestly, even PETS!!! And as we head into Fall for some of us, we do live vicariously a bit via the 3-4 season folks.

We love to hear what your experiences are, and I think we all learn from each other, newbies to Masters!

glad you\'re here

Post often, pictures are great!

 Hello Daisy ,
Welcome to the site ,I'm north of you across the Bristol Channel at the West end of the M4.

Don't be afraid to ask any question on here as on here there are no such things as daft questions .

If you go to the home page and move your mouse to the left side , a drop down line of fawn bobbly bits appears .. in here are some of the more useful threads on the site.

It took me several weeks to read the whole site through from start up to the current day using the main index and it's grown a lot since I joined.

The info in my strap line signature is helpful to ensure we are all singing off the same song sheet .
Our style of Square Foot Gardening ( aka. SFG or ANSFG ) works beyond all doubt , time & time again all over the world.

I encourage you to look up the compost 101 thread and then start making your own home made compost as soon as possible for not only does it make SFG cheaper , if you make it properly  you'll have outstanding compost /food for your square foot beds  .

Welcome, LD! Everyone's situation is unique, but I'm sure you'll still find plenty of gardening ideas here that will have some overlap with your own situation and where you are situated.

Plantoid's idea to check out the stuff on the left is a good one. There are so many forums here, and so many back pages that are just as good as anything you're likely to read on any Page 1, that trying to get a handle on the site can seem like quite a project. But the stuff on the left is a start, and there's no stopwatch running, so take your time and ask all the questions and chat all the chat you like. Whatever works for you is fine, and that's what we're here for, after all!

Welcome to The Forum, Daisy. There's lots of fine gardeners that can offer loads of help, just ask!. There's no such thing as a lame question here- were all in this together, so feel free to post your questions. If there are any "Lurkers" out there, please follow Daizy's lead and register now- heck, it's free cheers. Mel's SFG book 2 is a great reference, its a different take on traditional gardening methods, and we try to fill any gaps that may come up. The last thing we want is for gardeners is to give up and go back to the old shed full of burdensome garden equipment and rows of veggies that are too much to consume, are a waste of yard space, and an unnecessary back breaking effort. I've swapped a spade and and an iron rake for a hand trowel because gardening takes on a way easier twist with SFG.
