Interesting link

Post  AtlantaMarie on 11/10/2015, 9:51 am

Hi everyone.  Sorry I haven't been around the last few days.  We were at a conference all weekend with lousy coverage.

We've had rain here every day for almost 2 weeks now.  We're supposed to get some sun this afternoon!  I hope so....

This isn't really garden related, but good info anyway.

The conference we attended was our annual GA Dept of Nat'l Resources Becoming an Outdoors-Woman shin-dig.  Firearms, outdoor cooking, bird banding, fly fishing, scuba, astronomy (HA!  Not with this rain!), hiking, tracking, trapping, tree climbing.

DH & I led the Hunter's Ed & most of the shooting stuff - gun safety, rifle/pistol/shotgun shooting.  (Since I'm such a pushy broad, I acted as Range Safety Officer for the shooting portions to ensure everyone stayed safe.)  And I did a pressure canning class that was attended by 14 ladies.  We did venison spaghetti sauce & corn.  We all had a good time...  I think next year will be dehydrating....

The BOW program is actually a nation-wide thing started in WI.  It's really a great program!  Here's a link if you're interested in finding out more about it.  This link is for the national program.  It will take you to the individual states.

In looking thru the various programs offered, I haven't seen anything on gardening...  But I think it would be a good addition.  Any suggestions/thoughts/comments?

I think SFG would be a very good addition.  Sounds a very interesting get- together.
I would also be interested in food from a forest type of thing.  What to eat and what NOT to eat.

Edible greens and other edibles, building an all natural warm pup tent, starting a fire with a flint fire starter and striker, boil water with hot stones.
