I used a large baking pan to roast potatoes, carrots and parsnips with some onions and that always goes well with my family.  My son who never would try parsnips, loved them that way.  I called it my harvest vegetable platter.

Yum! I did a similar thing, but the onions would add some delicious!

It's been so warm that I think I may actually have to mow my lawn one more time. Shocked  Who ever heard of 60's for Christmas in New England!?  Wish I'd planted some seeds a couple months ago.  There are lots of little babies popping up in the finished compost pile but I don't know what they are.  Meanwhile, the new pile is steaming!  I love you

Yes, QB, the parsnips were frosted a couple of times.

Yes, SR, it's kale.  Pull from below and they continue to grow out the top. Smile  Parsnips taste like they take the place of potatoes for me.  Not actually potato flavored but sort of.

Cleaned out and composted 5 boxes today and ended up with these leeks, radishes and carrots, along with the last of the  kale, collards and mustard greens.

Four more boxes to clean out tomorrow that contain beets, chard, chives and maybe some surprises that I've forgotten about.

Nice pickin'z, CC!

It sure is weird to have this "heat" wave this time of year. I thought the "winter that wasn't" of a few years back was bad, but this is just unnatural. Snowed a couple of times but all gone within a day or two.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the "warmth", I just recognize that it's just...wrong...

I mean--I've got things sprouting, too! And some of my celery that I left in bed I was too lazy to clean out is actually still alive. Shocked

I think we're all thinking about this song this winter, so here's a little gift for the holiday:

White Christmas Lyrics

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the tree tops glisten
And children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all
Your Christmases be white

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the tree tops glisten
And children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases
May all your Christmases
May all your Christmases
May all your Christmases be white

I'm dreaming of a white
Christmas with you...
