I had some help on Mother's Day

Post  Wyldflower on 5/10/2010, 1:44 am

Two of my grandkids came to help with my yard for Mother's Day. We accomplished a lot, filling one box with Mel's Mix, planting herbs, pulling down a rickety section of fence, and just having fun together. There are pics in my gallery HERE

Here's one view of my three beds:

and of the one bed that's got something to actually look at:

We made a 'tipsy' herb garden, too:

and these are two of my five grandkids:

Nice present! Nice garden!

Post  Saartje on 5/10/2010, 3:01 am

That's really nice of them to help! I like the patch in the back with the concrete blocks. Heavy, but otherwise very easy to make, and cheap too. And in the holes of the bricks you could plant low herbs like thyme and crawling camomile, so you'd have a sweet smelling seat for weeding! Only downside is the 'loss' of space. I also like your tipsy spice tower. Not for me this year though, too much watering. I'm pregnant and suffered from pelvical instability in my last pregnancy, so not allowed to lift more than a few kilo's, so out goes the watering can! But I've found that this pregnancy is ideal to get my husband involved and interested in the garden, because he has to dig, move stuff, turn the compost, ..., and he's beginning to like it!
