Examples of programs that have used SFG with children or families?

Post  Firefly on 2/15/2016, 1:27 pm

Hello everyone,

I am giving a presentation on the use of SFG in children or family programs.

I was wondering if anyone had examples of programs that already are using SFG to help address a problem such as helping to address food insecurity in families, improve children's eating habits, etc. rather than just exposing children to gardening (e.g. in cubs/scouts etc).

Thank you for your help!!

Locally here there is a "Grow for your Neighbor" program where as part of the instructional classes they give about square foot gardening they encourage you to grow extra or if you have extra to share with local food banks.  They maintain some SFG at the local library and donate to food bank and they hooked the program to local farmer's market where they have a food bank truck that you can take stuff to donate.

Try the link above or search "grow for your neighbor Fredericksburg VA" for more information.
