howdy from east central missouri

Post  BassoraMo on 3/8/2010, 3:02 pm

Greetings from near the Muddy Mo

We live in east central Missouri a good hour from St. Louis
(and that’s as close to the big city that we’ll get).
We own a small house with a nice-size fenced backyard where
you find our gardens and our three dogs.
I fenced the garden with 1920s fencing that was salvaged from an old
cemetery that was putting up modern fencing.
I am building my garden boxes and gathering seed (I was forwarded some various
heirloom tomato seeds from Arkansas – it will be an adventure to see what types
of tomatoes I will get to harvest).
The lady of the house is a hillbilly from Southwest
Missouri. Both of her parents were born
in log cabins (but she ain’t that old). Her daddy was from Oates and her momma was
from Jerktail (you can’t make up names like that).
The gentleman of the house is originally from the St. Louis
County area but has always had a rural soul.
Our main hobbies are exploring woods and ghosts towns
looking for forgotten cemeteries; playing old-tyme traditional music on
banjo, guitar, mandolin, fiddle, concertina; and helping things grow in our gardens.

Looking forward to a wonderful growing (and learning)
season!!
