Hi lexilou. I live in Phoenix just an hour or so away. If you haven't yet get your plants going. It's the best time. Especially since we are experiencing warmer weather than normal.

Wow that's cool you live so close. What have you planted so far? How far along are the plants? I am gonna do some pumpkins, watermelon, honeydew, and some corn ( if I can) and also sugar snaps, some black eyed peas, and I have a tomato plant that is a transplant. It's pretty big already. Got some onions too and remembered it's a cool crop because I set them outside and they wilted until I got them back in. Lol

I'm not sure when to plant because it's a warm year and I may be late getting some things planted because I don't know how long it's supposed to take to get this hot. Boy since it is so hot, maybe it will be a longer season and it won't matter that I planted some late. We shall see!

Hi Lexilou, Welcome to the Forum from California! glad you\'re here Audrey, Yardslave and I in CA have hot dry summers so you may find our "Northern California & Coastal Valleys - What are you doing this month?" thread some help. You also RainWater. Shade cloth or some sort and thick mulch on the beds are really invaluable to getting through the heat of the summer.

I have 2 4x4' boxes which have tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, carrots, onions, lettuce, green beans, corn, & beets all started the 1st week of February and surprisingly celery, arugula, kale, spinach & garlic planted last October/November. I've been harvesting a lot of kale, arugula & spinach.
