Doc put a damper on it

Post  johnp on Sat 26 Mar 2016, 4:26 pm

The doctor sure put a damper on my plans. I saw my Dr. last week knowing I had reinjured a hernia repair of over thirty years ago. I did it while in AZ so my insurance would not handle another primary care phy. I saw my Dr. last week and last Wed. saw the recommended surgeon. Well he saw me but said he was going on vac. today for two weeks. I said OK and then he said lets do it Friday. Great. I came home last night very sore but OK. The problem is: no lifting over 10lbs for 8 weeks, no driving for 5 days, no pickleball for 8 weeks, no shoveling for 8 weeks, no cardio class for 8 weeks, no mixing MM for 8 weeks etc. He was nice enough to say it was alright to plant in any beds that were already prepared. That at least gives me my spring planting because I did get 100 sqs. ready last week. I said that it seemed extreme but he said mine was extreme and he didn't want to do it again. I guess I can't blame him Shocked .

Better to obey than have to sheepishly go back to him and tell him you didn't and hurt yourself again, lol!  Hopefully the time will pass quickly - and you'll be better than new!

Hirer some neighborhood kids to help. Mine are always asking if the neighbors have any odd jobs they can help with.

I am trying to comply but it is just not me. No neighborhood kids, they don't come down here any more because the way to the next street has been blocked. The kids up at the corner are the ones who don't do anything.

Good for you for getting it taken care of, John. Planting 100 square feet is no small task. Before you know it you'll be planning for the next season and having to get those plants started. And then the next season, the same. Throw in a few experiments and you'll be busy. Take care, that's all.

Thanks Jimmy Cee, I have read the first two already. I have a studio off my house, attached but you have to go outside to get inside. Has a heater and all windows. Of course this time of year the table and corresponding light above are now full of seedlings. So I got my little folding table from the garage and set it up right across from the seedlings so I can babysit the seedlings and draw and paint at the same time. My wife approves because I am out of the way and not exerting myself to much. I would send pictures but /I left the camera in AZ. My friends are bring it back when ever they get back. Laughing

At least the doc was able to take care of it before he left for 2 weeks... That means you're two weeks ahead!! (Think positive...)

That is true. I am feeling much better today and quit the pain med's. Still very sore but took a walk around the property (somewhat, lot's of snow) and checked the garden area looking for nothing but the rhubarb is doing well. Drew out the garden plan and started naming the squares with what to plant. Raspberries peeking out.
