Tomorrow starts my 2018 gardening season!    This morning, I bundled up and took the camera out for a sneak peek (it was 37 degrees). Here is my first ANSFG bed, planted in Daikon radishes, globe radishes, and carrots -- from last fall. Tomorrow I'll harvest and see what's edible. (That's Sienna, photo-bombing.  Razz )

It seems like "good" cats try to walk on the frames instead of in the Mix. Good kitty.

Hubby has been asking me to grow California poppies for almost 40 years. I could never get them to grow (which is really embarrassing, since they're almost a weed, here). Last year, I planted a bee garden on a stump out back. The seed mix obviously contained CA poppies, since that area is now loaded with them. This is what I saw this morning, naturally re-seeded from last year, with no help (or interference) from me.  YEE-HAH!  happy turtle

I love you

Here's the downside of cold composting. Every place I've used my compost this year, I'm getting a healthy crop of cucumber sprouts. Since I am psychologically unable to pull out a volunteer, this is what I'm getting all over the garden.

You know if you have a warmth loving plant like cucumber sprouting all over, it is past time to get all your seedlings planted. You can give the babies a light cover so they do not sun burn.

I got my strawberries planted today. Tomorrow and Monday it's supposed to be cold and rainy, but Tuesday I'll start planting everything else.

Wish I had this problem.  My compost volunteers are all squashes & maters.
