Kansas and Oklahoma wildfires

Post  landarch on 4/13/2016, 9:43 pm

Here's some interesting drone footage of a giant wildfire getting little national coverage...over 400,000 acres of grassland burned in KS and OK.  Now one can understand the prairie ecosystem when wildfires swept through the entire central plains keeping the encroaching forests at bay.

I'm sure this doesn't seem like such a "giant" fire to people accustomed to what we see in places like Colorado where the wildfires involve large forests of tall trees.  But because of the dry, windy conditions, these fires can be quite powerful.

Fire of any size can do damage to property, livelihood, livestock, and wild critters, etc.
