I envy someone who can design something as beautiful as that. And I wonder how many people they are feeding!

I've them like that and I've seen them neglected.  Still much better than the weed infested nightmares around here for people waiting to rip out their lawn for the rebate.

There is a house down a ways that ripped their yard out, they're putting in a geometric pattern of the 1" to 2" landscape glass.

Only thing I've noticed is coming around the curve at the right time in the morning has you facing a million 1 inch mirrors glaring the sun at you.

NSR, Now that's a nightmare! Shocked There are 3 expensive houses that we drive by that have installed artificial turf right up to within a foot of their trees. I'm waiting for their trees to die from the excess heat the turf creates, combined with reduced watering.

I have the feeling that it could be photo-shopped.

Or nothing could be that perfect unless every plant was a transplant and it was all done in one day.  Just wait until a month has passed by and see how untidy it gets then.  But then the owners would just hire the landscapers to keep it just-so.

Very expensive lettuce.

Wish my front yard garden looked that perfect

Post  Mimi2 on 4/17/2016, 8:40 pm

I definitely feel inspired by that picture- but it'll never be me. There was time I was a perfectionist- but not after have three kids, house, garden, husband and a full time job. Good enough has to be good enough. Thanks for sharing- because my garden could definitely be a little neater.

They'd better keep it up. That is a very expensive neighborhhod, which means CC&Rs, which means the landscape police will not tolerate a weed or a spent bloom.  No I'm surprised they let them build it in the first place. Rolling Eyes The compost bin must be in the master suite. Wink

Looks gorgeous!

WISH I could do something like that... But we need extra space for our students to park when the driveway is full. And that means the front yard...

BUT - that doesn't mean I can't do more with the back yard..... And I can dream......! :-)

My only concern would be the veggies so close to the roadway. All that exhaust....

I remember this garden now, I saw it originally a few years ago during the fights about gardens in town.  Might have been from on here.

They're in Quebec, slightly east off Montreal.  YouTube has a video

I'm with ya on that, girlfriend!  My garden is so wind blown right now that I have no idea where everything is.  Nor am I interested in finding out until this weather settles down.
Rolling Eyes

Great video, NSR! They are so right about the social aspect.  My SFG is on the side of my house, from front yard to back yard, and I now know all my neighbors and meet lots of summer visitors who are out walking.
Very Happy

Reality check for me. Their garden is great! The couple looks healthy. But, by mid summer, my garden is half-way knocked silly with red spider mites, powdery mildew, followed by grasshoppers. Not to say there isn't good production into fall, just that it "looks" shabby. Embarassed And I can't wear my jammies Very Happy

Re: WOW.. Look at this - Front Yard Garden

Post  No_Such_Reality on 4/18/2016, 3:15 pm

Yea, I need to do more tending of my beds.  Snipping damaged leaves etc.  It would be relaxing but just need to find the daylight time to do it.  Keep'em clean and slow down spread of disease.

Quebec's season is pretty compressed and being that far north, they get 15 hours of daylight in June.  Things like Cucumbers, start indoor early May, transplant outdoors early June, or direct seed outdoors late May, harvest late July to late August.  Tomatoes same way, start indoors in March, transplant late May and harvest mid-August.

So those pictures are from the prime two months of growing time.  I wonder what it's like in March or early October.

My beds go from looking nice to shabby pretty quick and right now I can't imagine fighting all the fallowed yards that are full of dandelions, horseweed and thistles.
