Howdy CrystalSpider5, welcome to a very encouraging site that can help you in so many ways. Since you are new to gardening, you are VERY WISE to have a plan (following the book.)  If you can put your thoughts and questions out here, many folks who have experience in your neck of the woods or a place very similar to your area, can give you advice or explain how to avoid problems. A lot of us have been gardening for many years, and all that experience has shown me so many better ways to do things since I started reading this site.
You have a plan, and following the book is a good plan. Now you can anticipate what is to come, so you can think about things ahead of time and not be rushed to do something at the last minute, or get caught short and suffer through a catastrophic event. When you don't understand something, or have thoughts about something you are not sure of, ask about it here, chances are you will get at least one answer.  Sometimes you can get multipe answers which can get you to the same end by different paths. I hope to read about how well it is going for you, and remember we like pics here. Rock

A hello from Beetles in central Pennsylvania to you, CrystalSpider! I had lots of spiders in my garden last year - orb weavers, wolf spiders, jumping spiders... but no crystal spiders.
