disaster , evidently the right brakel artery was dissected with the angiogramme operation . the probe went betwen the artery lining and the outer sheath , splitting it in many places .
on day four after it taking place the internal bleeding caused my right arm to swell to 5 inch across the wrist and about 8 inches at the elbow ....mind bogglingly screaming hurt .

big cock up's in five hospital visits problem finally diagnosed in the early hours of saturday 24 sept morning steps taken to sort it out.

Copy & pastred from else where ...
sorry there are no capitals in the email . due to a angiography operation not going well , i have a permanently blocked brakel artery in my right arm . i'm trying to type with my index finger on my left hand & use the mouse with my left hand.( dificult )
i will not be able to use my right hand for a few weeks and may end up losing some nerves and ability .
i hope to carry on answering emails but may not be doing much postings for a while.

Still smiling & seeing the funny side of life and death

You are so upbeat, plantoid. I don't think I could do as good if that happened to me. So sorry for all the pain.  The swelling from my wasp sting recently was as nothing to what you are going through.

I hope you can get away without any more damage.

Re: Plantoid' s going into hospital ....

Possibly but the immense stress of it all would destroy me and or Alison  for I've already had four  lengthy legal disputes in my life .
All of which I came out financially better but mentally/ emotionally  the worse for a few years . They were  Divorce, one against each of my former employers where in each case  I got crippled and one against the state which saw me get many thousands of £ sterling back & compensation for the way the case was progressed / prosecuted by the state .

Here in the UK you have to sign an agreement for the surgeon to carry out the operation ( if you are conscious and mentally able ) in that agreement it also covers a verbal description for the percentages of risks to your life though in most cases it does not specify what each individual risk is .

I seem to remember that having an angiogramme via the brachial artery gave a risk of around  25% of something not going 100 % right ( dead nerves , pain & swellings ???)  & one of 0.0425 % of death due to holes being made  in  the artery.

The only way I might have a claim is one for the overall way the problem was diagnosed and treated several days after I notified the health service of the problem occurring .
Then I would have to try and find the exact sequence of events and who was involved before I went to the lawyers etc . .. life's far too short these days for me to take such a chunk of time out of my remaining days .

It seems to me that a severed brachial artery during the angiogram would have shown up on the instrumentation!  If that's the case, the surgeon may have ignored it.  In my opinion, that would be malpractice with malice.

The bleeding only showed up a full four days after the probes insertion event taking place , nor was there any evidence of a bruise developing till that fourth day  , that's why it would be so difficulty to prove anything .

I was fully conscious during the whole operation , watching it on a big TV screen .   Neither the surgeon , his assistant nor the probe operator working from a  joy stick control unit said anything that would have led me to believe something had gone wrong either during or after the event  .

Yesterday my doctor prescribed me a bottle of Oral Morphine , one 5 ml spoon of that & I disappeared into the land of the zombies for several hours if pain free deep sleep . After returning to earth I still felt well spaced out till I went to bed at my normal bed time ..
I will be treating that Ori Morph with great respect as  I don't like losing time from my birth certificate Laughing

See the funny side of life , your'e a long time dead

Post  plantoid on 9/29/2016, 7:02 am

Now I'm getting a bit of use back in my right hand & arm I venture to tell you guys what transpired at hospital 10 days ago .
I was being taken in & out of the A&E part of the hospital & into a day unit as different specialists arrived and tried to diagnose what was wrong with my arm and decide up on what actions to take to help the problem of bleeding internally from my wrist to the crook of my arm four days after an angiography via my right biracial artery .
Much of the day was spent with me on something akin to a reclining dentists chair with my right arm gently lashed up above my head to a drip stand to try and keep th blood flow down to a minimum.

Come 18.00 the day unit was due to close and because I'd been out of A&E for over three hours I had to be readmitted via the front desk . Now , the distances internally from the day unit to A&E was over 200 mtrs , involved numerous doors & some awkward slopes to negotiate etc , me normally using crutches , was considered a wheel chair case as I was suppose to hold my arm up myself as we moved between places.

In the end it was decided that the quickest way would be to take me out the main door of the day unit in a wheel chair and back into A&E front desk doors ( a mere 80 mtrs away via this route ) .
The Staff nurse brought the only wheel chair around ,a pretty bright red one. I found sitting in it a very tight squeeze as it was a kiddies wheel chair .
Off we go out the doors and down a long slope towards A&E . , Me extolling the nurse to be careful as previously my lass was pushing me down a long steep slope at Alton Towers and letting go as she couldn't hold the wheel chair back ..
It ended up me chasing a gentleman down the last 25 years before impact with the wall and bending my wheel chair ( could b[have been much worse ) . Which ever way he tried to dodge out of my way the wheel chair followed him as if on an invisible a tow rope . By now the nurse is laughing like a drain for we'd picked up speed and she was hauling back onnthe handles to slow me down .

We get in the A&E front doors and I try to get out the wheelchair & can't as I can't use either hand for my left is holding the right arm up above my head , I said try tipping me forward a bit to get me on my feet and then with draw the chair .

We tried that and I end up on my feet leaning forward at the hips with a wheelchair firmly stuck to my butt , then over balance & fall back down into it . By now we're both laughing like drains , so are the other dozen or more folk in the A&E waiting area .

" Oh Bagger " I said between fits of laughing ," Push me towards that chair arm and I'll try and keep my right arm up & pull myself forwards with my left whilst you pull the chair backwards ".

We tried , she tipped me forward till I'm on my feet , I get hold of the arm and she pulls the wheel chair back ..I let out an enormous long loud smelly fart . Everyone errupted into gales of laughter including a few of the doctors & who'd popped out of examination cubicles to see what the initial commotion & laughter was . I fall back into the chair once again , the place is in a uproar ,
" Again " I cried between the tears of laughter , " Again " . The audience are near to wetting themselves laughing by now .This time two orderlies come to our assistance and wrap a sheet around my waist cummerbund style .
When the chair is tipped forward & I get hold of the chair arm I'd grabbed previously ...my right arm's stuck up & forwards like a Hitler salute , They give a heave on the sheet waist band I let out another tremendously evil quality fart and the wheel chair falls off me , I fart yet gain as I'm helped to straighten up still in the Nazi salute .

The audience now cheered loudly and give me a round of applause. I thanked them saying , " You should see what mushy peas can do " .
Once ensconced upon a bench seat , I'm given a new drip stand to hang my damaged arm off & things quieten down .. I'm then admitted into hospital via the A&E

The same Staff nurse came and saw me when I was on the ward laid in bed the next day ..... She's still smiling & with twinkling eyes . I said , " I bet you'll remember me getting stuck in that chair for the rest of your days " .

" No she said giggling & laughing , I'll remember the farts " . I tried to tell my husband what happened but had to give up as I was laughing so much , maybe I can tell him tonight when I get off shift " .

plantoid ... even in your time of suffering you have a great sense of humour.

Wow that was funny. Sounds like the beginnings of a new British sit com ... something like "Some Mother Do 'Ave 'Em" from years ago.

This one (link below) is called the Hospital Visit. The star is Michael Crawford who later became the star of the stage show Phantom of the Opera.

Skip down to about the 28 minute mark to see him "ride the hospital trolley".

Well, I laughed out loud too, but really when it comes down to it, what a farce and that is the vaunted NHS for you, :only one kid's wheelchair available. Was it a Cottage Hospital?

It could have been so much worse, Plantoid, but you make so light of it and make us laugh.  May you progress to good health ASAP.

I'm almost equidistant between a triangle of Welsh NHS hospitals . Some days I wonder how anyone who has serious urgent surgery done in them comes out of them with improvement if my care/ treatment  in them & the Welsh National Health Service ( WNHS) is anything to go by .

I'd love to have been able to afford to go the private health care with its first class outcomes & care when I first got crippled in 1978 & again at the second life changing event in 1995

Unfortunately for me & my family the Welsh NHS is assessed the worst of all of our national health service ( NHS )  hospitals .  The ratings falling off in the following order ,  N. Ireland ,England ,Scotland & Wales.

Everything appears to be done at the minimum level , staff morale is rock bottom in many departments yet they have some of the best incomes and financial input in their departments in the UK .
Much of the problems in the NHS are I  suspect is down to the mule headed trade union members and stupid left wing politics at work for the budget for our NHS hospitals is worth many billions of dollars each year .
