glad you\'re here newbeone  happy hi
from Kelejan :canada: in British Columbia.

I have visited San Antonio a couple of times and found it hot and dry.  The first time I visited there was going to be water restrictions the next day if it did not rain.  It rained, so as to top up the aquifer on which you all depend.  That first time was in May, 2000 so I expect you are in a worse state now.

Look forward to hearing what you plan to do.

happy hi from zone 9b in way-northern California. I was born near buffalo. How's that for "upstate NY"? I remember tunneling in the snow from our house to my best friend a few doors down. I also remember my big brothers building me an igloo in the back driveway. My rural relatives had fabulous veggie and strawberry gardens. They didn't call our area "the Eden Valley" for nothing. flower

My answer to 9b gardening is leaf mulch. We have oak trees all over the property, so 6" of oak leaves around my plants is easily doable.

Good luck with your gardens. Can't wait to see pics and read about your adventures. geek

Hi there, newbeone, and welcome to SFG forums from the Central Coast of California ( the land of "shake-and-bake) We're sometimes 9a, Sometimes 9b- all depends who you talk to. I'm glad you joined in and encourage any "lurkers" to join in. Feel free to ask questions; everyone here are great sources of information and we can help you avoid errors that most all of us have made and are willing to help you avoid getting discouraged.
