NEW ENGLAND OCT 2016

Post  quiltbea on Fri Sep 23, 2016 12:20 pm

I don't see any other Oct thread, so I'm making one.
Just wanted to let you know that I may be moving into an apt. living for seniors housing in early Oct.  I'm crossing my fingers.  They gave me the tour but she said the final papers were not yet signed by the mgr. so I'm hoping he'll do that this week.  She must be pretty sure to give me a viewing.
Its in a village 10 miles closer to the big city and alongside a river.  I love water so a river view from my living room and bedroom windows is ideal for me.

They even had an area where I see pots with plants in them so maybe I can have a few tomatoes and herbs myself next year.  I'm crossing my fingers.

As you can see I have the wrong date on my camera.  Got to fix that.  When I tried to add another pic, the same one showed up.  Woe is me.  I have to relearn how to do this properly.  But you get the idea.  Maybe I can enjoy my green thumb next spring after all.

Good luck, QB! If you can get a unit with a south-facing window, you can still do some gardening inside. You could force paper whites for Christmas or plant an avocado seed for something green.

QB, that area looks great. Would they allow you to put a SFG box there? If not, it is still a great area for pots.

Yikes ... is it already October? I must have fallen asleep.  We did have a power outage today so maybe my clock/calendar is all out of wack.  Very Happy

All the best QB for your future gardening efforts.

Sanderson.......To be honest, I think I'd prefer to have a couple of pots and not all the extra work of a small garden space.  Those days of bending and weeding are over for me I'm afraid.  I want to sit outside and watch the river roll past and pick a tomato now and then.

Nice!  Looks like a great situation for you, QB!  I really enjoyed my "South Annex" of containers this past year.  Nice and tall.  No weeds.  Very productive!  I think it looks perfect!

Re: NEW ENGLAND OCT 2016

I'm all moved in and love it here by the river.
Yes, I can have pots of plants if I like as long as I tend them myself.  As you can see in the first photo with the paved area, there are some pots around the edge.  That's the area for our personal plants.  So maybe a tomato plant or two for me next spring will keep me happy.

I've still unpacking to do.  Lots of fabric to get from storage for my quilting projects even after more than a dozen extra large Hefty bags full that I gave to local quilt groups to make charity quilts.

I'll be back next spring to see how you all are doing with you gardens.  I love all the photos you post.  Makes me feel good.  See you in the spring. Hugs to all.

Yes, I'll check in now and then friends.  I'll sure miss the daily gardening routine but time to take it easier in life.  Maybe I'll make a quilted garden wall hanging.
