Mimi, this is hands down one of the best fried green tomato recipes, they carmelized and get a bit sweet!  Crunchy, goodness.  I add some garlic powder because I like it.....

I am having fun with the spider on the home page, making her go up and down with scrolling.

It startled me a little, the first time I caught this movement on the right side of the page. Very Happy

Here in Canada's capital we are expecting up to 4 centimetres of wet snow starting this afternoon followed by rain for the following two days. Next week should be nicer with high temps on a couple of days getting into the teens (Celsius)

SUNSHINE today. Very Happy  After 17 days of rain I spent a lovely two hours  digging around in my compost heap to sort some unfinished compost for my friend who has snagged herself a giant compost tumbler about the length of a door that has a motor to turn it.  So I am donating some compost that has many worms in it and hopefully there will be many cocoons as well. I know that when her machine is in full production, I will get some compost in return. Win-Win.

After collecting a couple of five-gallon buckets for her, I spent some time topping up the compost pile with layers of leaves, and grass saved during the year and added  five gallons of coffee grounds. No need to water it as the forecast is another seven days of rain.

After that I spent half an hour gathering three bags of leaves from my neighbour who has two ornamental trees that are dropping their leaves.  She is happy for me to do this and I am happy to have another two varieties of leaves for my compost.  I reckon there are about six bags of leaves to fall. Most of my leaves are oakd and silver birch, so I am always on the lookout fir different trees.

Finished today's work by adding compost to this years rhubarb planted earlier in the  spring and looking forward to a small first harvest next year. I love rhubarb.

I just wish I had a bit more energy left to carry on but I am happy with what I accomplished.

So happy that I took the chance to do some gardening yesterday as the rain is coming down again and settling in for the foreseeable future.  Still not having to shovel anything so I am grateful for small mercies.

On this day in 2006 we had 7cm (roughly 3 inches) of snow on the ground.
