Some in the mini-greenhouses and some outside but unprotected. I haven't been successful with the regular greenhouse, so I'm not using it this year.

It's time for me to think about Winter Sowing. I did it last winter with some success.  I have a bunch of containers that I can use.

Keep in mind that Winter Sowing is not starting seeds indoors and it is not Winter Growing.

The following website is a good starting place for information about Winter Sowing:

Here are a couple of videos:

I'm so glad you revived this thread, TD. I spent the morning removing labels from 18 more gallon containers. Tomorrow I will plant them up in the Salad Bar and BTE beds. Today, I'm starting more seeds on the warming pad inside. We have had years when spring started Feb 1 and we have no winter scheduled yet, so fingers crossed I can make it happen this year. I'll post pics, tomorrow. geek

Oops! Embarassed I had this all wrong!  Embarassed I cut the bottoms out of my gallon jugs and placed them on top of seeds or seedlings, letting the plants grow up through the holes in the tops. I thought the idea was to have the greenhouse effect keep the soil warmer so the plants could think it was spring and grow all winter in our mild climate (in the years when we have a mild climate Rolling Eyes ). Ah well, that's what I'm doing, anyway, even if it isn't according to Hoyle. Razz

It's OK CN. What you are doing is more like Direct Winter Sowing or No Transplant Winter Sowing.
