Is there any help out there for this disorder?  I wonder if anyone would be interested in doing a reality TV series on seed hoarders (e.g., http://www.aetv.com/shows/hoarders ) or setting up Seed Hoarders Anonymous?

TD. if you are careful with your winter sowing containers I am sure you can make them last another year. Very Happy

Around the yard in winter.

The SFG Table Top.

The path which goes partway to the Winter Sowing containers which are no longer visible.

The compost bins.

The SFG beds.

Last winter I started some herbs from a kit which I think was purchased at Walmart. The only thing that survived for any length of time was the parsley. The container was taken outside for the summer and brought back in in the Fall. Here is what it looks like today and where it resides in a South-West facing window.

Nice. I read that parsley is difficult, so I didn't even try.  Rolling Eyes

Suz, Parsley and cilantro should be easy. I had a spring/early summer crop and a fall/winter crop. Give them a try.

I have had no problem growing them in the SFG. In fact the parsley got quite huge last year in my table top and cilantro did the same in one of my 4x4 bed the previous year.

The warmer weather is getting rid of some of the snow. Compare these photos with those posted on Feb 15 above.

The table top only has a small blob of snow left on top.

The winter sowing containers are now fully exposed but they are still sitting on top of at least a foot of snow.

Compost bins.

Part of one of the chicken wire cages on an SFG bed is exposed.

Our street. Still lots of snow on the sides but a clear path down the middle.

Re: Third Year SFG in Canada

I started some spinach from seed using the "Kate Method" a couple of weeks ago.

See http://squarefoot.creatingforum.com/t20284p50-problems-getting-spinach-seeds-to-sprout-try-this#260814

Here is what the transplanted germinated seedlings look like today.  As well, there is a photo of the side view of the self-watering container which is made out of two plastic containers. The upper container sits on top of the lid of the lower container. There is a layer of paper towel in the bottom of the upper container. Four wicks of paper towel go through holes in the bottom of the top container and holes in the lid of the lower container which holds the water.

This evening I finally got around to starting some Leek seeds indoors.  I sowed quite a few seeds in just one 4 inch square plastic pot.  I'll probably do another batch as a backup. I don't have much energy as I am just recovering from a couple of days of what I think is a Norovirus infection. I am literally drained.
